These tips work in most UK city centres — the exact savings depend on the city and time of day.

Use Park & Ride where available

Park & Ride sites sit on the edge of many UK cities and are usually much cheaper than central car parks. The price often includes the bus fare for everyone in the car, which makes it especially good value for families.

Compare council vs private car parks

Council-run car parks are often cheaper than nearby private multi-storeys, particularly for stays of more than a couple of hours. They're also more likely to publish a clear tariff online.

Look just outside the central zone
